In accordance with the BIL, as amended by P.L. 117-328, projects must have a water storage capacity of not less than 200 acre-feet and not more than 30,000 acre-feet. Awards made under the Small Storage Program's second funding opportunity were announced on March 27, 2024 to six small storage projects located in California and Utah.
The proposal is widely supported by local community leaders, residents, as well as state water managers and water agencies from the Bay Area to Southern California. Sites Reservoir is a water savings account for dry years.
Sites Reservoir is funded by 100% public dollars from local, state, and federal sources.
